Dimple Kapadia was born on 8 June 1957 in Mumbai, India. She is an Indian actress, who mainly works in Hindi Cinema. She made his acting debut at the age of 15 with the opposite cast of Rishi Kapoor in the film Bobby, which was released in India 1973. The story of Bobby Film was basically of a teenager love story. Bobby was also the first film of Rishi Kapoor as a lead actor before that he made debut in films but as a child actor, he was seen of playing the role of young Raj Kapoor his father's role in the film Mera Naam Joker.
Bobby was the superhit and commercial success film of 1973. In that era very few people watches the films, and very few are interested in love stories or romantic movies, because at that the era was Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna and more legendary actor of hindi cinema basically they all were mainly doing action but Rajesh Khanna was the superstar and also consider to be a romantic hero of that time. Dimple and Rishi was very young comparing the other actors and actresses or that time. If we look the list of the actors of that time than Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and more were among the list. Rishi was junior to all in this list likewise if we compare to the list of the top actress of 1970s than there were Rekha, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Zeenat Aman and more, Dimple Kapadia was junior to all in the age as well beginner in the films.
Rishi Kapoor once expressed that he had worked with new actress more because all the actress of his time was senior to him, except his future Neetu Singh and Dimple Kapadia. There is also an interesting story about Bobby is that, Raj Kapoor was affected with financial loss after his movie Mera Naam Joker didn't perform well in the box office. Raj took the risk to launch his son Rishi Kapoor in the film Bobby and Dimple Kapadia. There were other top actress and actors were in the industry, but it was teenager romantic film, so he was looking for that type of pair for the film.
After the huge success of Bobby, Rishi Kapoor started doing other films and projects meanwhile Dimple Kapadia shocked everyone at that time, as she married to Rajesh Khanna the first superstar of hindi cinema in March 1973. At that she was 16 and Khanna was 31 years old. People can't digest how this girl who became overnight sensation in the film industry getting married at young age. The decision led her to step away and took break from the industry. At 17, She gave birth to Twinkle Khanna, their first daughter and at the age 20, she gave birth to their second daughter Rinkie Khanna. Despite her early success in the industry, Dimple chose and gave her priority first to her family and parenting her child. After few years of their marriage, their relationship started facing challanges and in 1982, Dimple Kapadia separated from his husband Rajesh Khanna and came back to her parents home. They were separated but never took divorce, she was with Khanna during his final days.
Dimple again made successful comeback in the industry, with the film Sagar opposite to Rishi Kapoor, who is first actor. She is now active in industry and now have completed almost 50 years in hindi cinema, which is biggest achievement for any actor or actress.
