He alternated between the Los Angeles Lakers and their NBA G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. Then on October 22, Reaves made his NBA debut, where he scored eight points off the bench in a 115-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns. In a 107-104 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, he scored 15 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and hit the game-winning 3-pointer. He had a career-high 35 points, six rebounds, and six assists off the bench in a 111-105 win over the Orlando Magic on March 19, 2023. In April 2022, he recorded his first career triple-double, with 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in 42 minutes. Reaves also had 23 points in the first-round playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies, which ended in a 117-111 overtime victory. He signed a four-year, $54 million contract with the Lakers on July 6, 2023. Reaves was chosen to play for the United States at the FIBA World Cup in 2023. He was only the third undrafted NBA player to play for the United States national team, following Ben Wallace (2002) and Brad Miller (2006).
