Shashi Kapoor was one of the best and versatile actor of hindi cinema. He was popular for his charming look. His full name was Balbir Raj Kapoor and he was the youngest son of late and great actor Prithviraj Kapoor, So Shashi Kapoor was belongs to first family of hindi cinema and he was the second generation of his family to enter in cinema. He was born on 18 March 1938 in Calcutta, which is now famously known as Kolkata. His father was actor also a filmmaker and his two elder brother Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor was also a great actor of hindi cinema. And his brother Raj Kapoor was popularly known as the Show Man of Indian Cinema, that there no Bollywood, people simply used to called it hindi cinema or Indian Cinema. 

His brother, Shammi Kapoor was known as the Elvis Presley of hindi cinema. Shashi Kapoor began his acting career as a child artist, as a  child actor, Shashi appeared in films like Aag which was released in 1948, Awaara in 1951 in these two films his eldest brother Raj Kapoor was in a lead role. In 1960s, Shashi entered into the films as an lead actor and soon he became one of the most handsome actor of his time, he was famous for his romantic screen presence and for his natural acting style. He did many great movies such as Jab Jab Phool Khile, Kanyadaan, Waqt, Deewaar, Sharmilee, Trishul, Kabhie Kabhie, Suhaag and More. He was one of the highest-paid actors of his time especially in 1960s and 1970s era, he was always occupied by the works and used to different-different shifts on the same day, there's are popular story that his brother Raj Kapoor kept his name or given him the nickname of 'Taxi' because Shashi Kapoor was always used to busy with his works. 

Shashi Kapoor has given many hits in his time, and his jodi with Amitabh Bachchan was loved by fans. While working with the theatre company called 'Shakespeareana',  Kapoor met Jennifer Kendal, who is going to become his future wife. Soon, after their's meeting, their relationship started and they finally married in 1958, they had three children together, Two sons Kunal and Karan Kapoor and one daughter Sanjana Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor was not only a actor, he also became a producer and started his own production company, some of his productions company films are Vijeta, Kalyug, Junoon and 36 Chowringhee Lane.

Kunal Kapoor is the eldest son of Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal. He also followed his family legacy and became a actor, he didn't achieved success like his father or grandfather or his cousins brother like Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor, but did well on cinema. Karan Kapoor is the second son late actor Shashi Kapoor and actress Jennifer Kendal, he also tried his charm in the film industry and did some movies but later he decided to quit the films. Critics says that Karan Kapoor didn't became a successful actor because of his foreigner looks, as his mother was foreigner, but after saying no to acting, Karan just didn't sit down, he is now of the popular model.

Sanjana Kapoor is the the only daughter of Jennifer Kendal and Shashi Kapoor and the sister of Kunal Kapoor and Karan Kapoor. He is also a former actress and a well known theatre personality, who is mostly associated with Prithvi Theatre. 

Shashi Kapoor grandchildren are Zahan Prithviraj Kapoor, who is also an actor, Aliya Kapoor and Zak Kapoor. So this is the next generation of Shashi Kapoor's. Shashi has recieved many awards and honours is life, including Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2014. At the age of 79, on 4 December, 2017, Shashi Kapoor passed away and left behind a very big legacy for his fans, and families and he also left the Prithvi Theatre, which is now very best handling by his sons especially Sanjana and Kunal Kapoor.
