From Struggle to Stardom: The Real Life Story of Dharmendra

Dharmendra was well known Indian actor, film producer and also politician. He mainly known for his work in hindi cinema or bollywood industry. Dharmendra is regarded as one of the greatest and also a most commercially successful actors of Indian cinema. He had worked for 65 years in hindi cinema and according to his filmography he worked over three hundred films, which is also a record. He was born on 8 December 1935 in Nasrali, Punjab. Dharmendra made his acting debut as a lead actor in 1960 released movie 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere' but he gained stardom in the mid-1960s for films in which he worked in such as Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Ayee Milan Ki Bela and Phool Aur Patthar.

Dharmendra got huge stardom after few years in his industry. He was also called "He-Man" of the Indian cinema. He was one of the top actors from the 1960s to late the 1980s. In the late 1990s he started doing character roles in several successful films. He has huge fan following. Dharmendra was also known for his Kind Heart, he had very good relationships in the film industry, and was respected by every actors and actresses. His journey wasn't easy a boy who came from a small village with big dreams on eyes and rule the heart of his fans through his films. He was the son of Kewal Krishan and his mother was Satwant Kaur, He was born into a Punjabi Hindu Jat Family. Dharmendra ancestral village is Dangon. 

Deol spent his early days in the Sahnewal village and he studied from Government Senior Secondary School located at Lalton Kalan. His father Kewal Krishan was the the village school headmaster and Dharmendra did his matric in Phagwara Punjab in 1952. His other nick name was  Garam Dharam. Dharmendra travelled to Mumbai without any guidance and support, he didn't have any clear pathway into the film industry no relative of his was into the film industry and he returned back home after failing to get works, he later started doing job in a drilling company. Dharmendra later reapplied into to the acting field after seeing Filmfare Magazine Talent Hunt advertisement, for which he moved to Mumbai again and was placed second.

Despite getting early recognition he still didn't got roles and face difficulties and according to reports he considered leaving Mumbai again until Manjo Kumar who was a aspiring actor that time persuaded Dharmendra to stay by and Rest his history. He did two marriages Prakash Kaur is his first wife, he married to her before entering into the film industry during his first marriage Dharmendra was 19 year old, they have 4 children, two sons Sunny and Bobby Deol both the successful actor; and two daughters Vijeta and Ajeeta. He did second marriage to actress Hema Malini in 1980 and the couple became parents of two children basically two daughters Esha Deol one of the successful actress and Ahana Deol.

Unfortunately on 24 November 2025 Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 at his residence following age related illness. Dharmendra left a huge legacy and huge huge fan following behind him.
