Randhir Kapoor was born on 15 February 1947 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is now 78 Years old. He is an Indian actor, film producer and director. Randhir was born in Karunakaran Maternity home, Matunga, Bombay (now know as Mumbai) to punjabi Hindu family. His grandfather later actor Prithviraj Kapoor with his family moved from their Kapoor Haveli which is now located in Peshawar, Pakistan to Bombay (now Mumbai, Maharashtra), before the partition of India, to make careers in acting. Randhir belong to first family of hindi cinema and famous Kapoor family of bollywood industry. He is the eldest son of Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor.

His father Raj Kapoor was a legendary actor and filmmaker of the hindi cinema. His mother Krishna Raj Kapoor was a home maker. His family contribution in hindi cinema is more than 100 years starting from his late grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor to his daughter Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and his nephew Ranbir Kapoor. Randhir has two younger brothers Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor both were the best actor of the hindi cinema but unfortunately few years back his both brother passed away. He also has two sisters Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain, his sister Ritu also passed away few years back.

Randhir Kapoor married actress Babita Shivdasani. The couple has two daughters Karisma Kapoor & Kareena and both his daughter is successful actress of hindi cinema. His wife Babita is also an actress. Randhir has completed more than 50 years in hindi cinema. Randhir started his acting career as a child artist in the film Shree 420, which was released in 1955 at that time he was just 8 year old and another film in which appeared as a child artist was Do Ustad released in 1959. He also worked as an assistant director in the film Jhuk Gaya Aasman released in 1968. He made his acting plus directorial debut in 1971 with the film Kal Aaj Aur Kal, which also starred his future wife Babita, his father Raj Kapoor and his grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor.

Kal Aaj Aur Kal was produced under the R.K. Banner. This film was written by Virendra Sinha, it was produced by Raj Kapoor, directed by Randhir Kapoor, it was edited by S.R. Kabre and the distributed by Shemaroo (DVD). The film was released on 26 November 1971, the running time of film is 156 minutes. The estimated budget of the film was Rs 40 Lakhs and the box office collection was Rs 1.7 Crore (approximately). Kal Aaj Aur Kal didi moderately well at the box office and the story was appreciated for bringing three generations of Kapoor family together on the screen. Many few people know that Randhir Kapoor younger Rishi Kapoor also worked in this film as an assistant director.
